Rye, New Hampshire

I always jump at the chance to travel through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont when my company offers the opportunity. On my last visit in November I left a few hours early so I could visit Rye Beach in Rye, New Hampshire. It’s only about a six mile bike ride from the Greenland T/A Travel Center truck stop.
The beach pictured above is right in the main part of town, and is lined with cute little cabins. On the day I went, it was raining on and off, and around 45 degrees, but there were still surfers in the water. If you look for it on your GPS, just search for the Rye General Store, a beach access path is right accross the street from it, and the store offers an good, inexpensive counter lunch and breakfast menu. A nice, rocky beach is about four miles to the north.  I have pictures from both beaches at my Instagram page.
I’m hoping that I’m sent back next Spring or Summer, when the beach is a bit busier.

About kevinmckague

I left my former dead-end job in 2006 in order to become a truck driver. I wanted a career that was recession-proof, and that offered more opportunity for adventure. Now I travel the country with my bike in the passenger seat, and look for new places to visit whenever the opportunity presents itself.
