Western Maryland Rail Trail in Hancock, Maryland

As 2012 comes to a close I thought I’d share some of my favorite pictures from the Western Maryland Rail-Trail, which has been one of my favorite stops over the past year on my regular Flint-Baltimore commute. With over 20 miles of smooth flat trails it’s a perfect quiet place to get away from the noise of the highway for an hour or two.
Downtown Hancock offers several good inexpensive restaurants and a bakery, so try not to be deterred by the Confederate Flags on display in one store front. The people downtown are quite friendly and open in spite of their redneck neighbors.
Truck parking is available nearby at the Hancock Truck Plaza off of exit 3 on I-70.

About kevinmckague

I left my former dead-end job in 2006 in order to become a truck driver. I wanted a career that was recession-proof, and that offered more opportunity for adventure. Now I travel the country with my bike in the passenger seat, and look for new places to visit whenever the opportunity presents itself.
