Furnace Run Metropark in Richfield, Ohio

According to the Furnace Run Metroparks website, there is a natural oasis just off of the Ohio Turnpike:

The park contains beech-maple woods, acres of spring wildflowers – including trillium and Virginia bluebells – and deep ravines. Birds spotted in Furnace Run Metro Park include a variety of owls, hawks, herons, warblers and waterfowl.

Luckily for me, this park is just a short bike ride away from the Pilot Travel Center in Richfield, Ohio, so I decided to park the truck and take a look for myself. (Click here for a map)

While in the area, you can also check out the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Click here to read about my visit there last December.

About kevinmckague

I left my former dead-end job in 2006 in order to become a truck driver. I wanted a career that was recession-proof, and that offered more opportunity for adventure. Now I travel the country with my bike in the passenger seat, and look for new places to visit whenever the opportunity presents itself.
